A Southern California native, flutist Karin Kantenwein Fabiero is Adjunct Professor of Flute at Mt. San Antonio College in Walnut, CA where she has taught since 2007. She also maintains a private teaching studio at the Claremont Community School of Music, in Claremont, CA since 2012. She is an active performer, passionate music educator and collaborative chamber musician. Mrs. Fabiero has performed as soloist with the Orange County Symphony, Mt. San Antonio College Chamber Orchestra and Mt. San Antonio College Wind Ensemble. She has been a substitute with local groups such as Pacific Symphony and the Southeast Symphony. She earned a Bachelor of Music in flute performance from the University of Southern California, studying with Gary Woodward and James Walker, and a Master of Music in flute performance from the University of North Texas, studying with Terri Sundberg. While at UNT, Mrs. Fabiero performed with the esteemed North Texas Wind Symphony. She can be heard with this ensemble on Klavier Recording Project and GIA WindWorks: Poetics, Passions, Altered States and Transformations. In 2019, she played principal in the pit orchestra for Westside Ballet’s annual production of the Nutcracker. She has frequently adjudicated for the MTAC Diamond Bar Branch Winterfest and Solo Festival and the San Diego Flute Guild Spring Festival. Mrs. Fabiero is the founding member of the woodwind chamber trio, Third Wheel, which was established in 2007. Currently, she performs as half of the flute pair, Tailwind Duo.
